The Kepler Field of View (FOV) can be viewed
within Google Sky using either the Google
Sky web interface or the
Google Earth software. Both tools provide a visual aid to decide whether individual sources fall upon detector silicon.
WEB INTERFACE INSTRUCTIONS
- Navigate your web browser to Google Sky.
- Within the search field type
http://keplergo.arc.nasa.gov
/tools/KeplerFOVseason#.kml where #
is an integer corresponding to one of the seasons defined below (1-4).
- Hit the search button.
GOOGLE EARTH INSTRUCTIONS
- Download one of the four seasonal Kepler
FOV definition files.
- Start the Google Earth tool.
- Switch to Google Sky view.
- Navigate the file menu and open the downloaded file.
- The Kepler FOV will now be an item within your Places list.
