The workshop will consist of a series of tutorial discussions covering theory and observations associated with the topics below. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience characterizing variable stars, finding planets, etc., through working with Kepler and CoRoT data. Attendees will also have the opportunity to present brief summaries of their current research. Financial assistance for travel and accommodations will be available for successful applicants.

Talk Submission Link - click here to submit your talk, POP, or poster

The deadline for POP and poster submissions by workshop attendees is Friday, July 9.

The deadline for talk submissions by workshop speakers is Friday, July 16.

Workshop speakers and registered attendees may submit their presentations here. Workshop attendees may submit two kinds of presentations: POPs and electronic posters, submitted separately. Both are intended to spark discussion throughout the week.

Research POPs are short (2 minute) presentations that will be presented on Monday and Tuesday during the workshop. The file should contain no more than 2 slides. The POP schedule will be published roughly two weeks before the workshop.

Electronic posters will be shown throughout the workshop on a 42 inch flat screen in the lobby outside the auditorium. The file should contain one slide (which can be taken from your POP presentation or prepared separately). For best display of the electronic posters, please submit them as PDF files, in landscape format with a ~16:9 aspect ratio and a display resolution of at least 1280 x 960. We encourage you to include a picture of yourself in your electronic poster so that other attendees who are interested in your work can find you.

Group Project Information

The group projects will focus on the newly-released Kepler and CoRoT data, learning how to characterize stellar variability, identify transits, and measure binary system parameters from the light curves. We anticipate having 5 groups, each led by an expert in the field, who will introduce the projects and advise their group throughout the week. Group working sessions are on the schedule, but some time may be needed after-hours and/or during lunch breaks to complete the projects. The projects will culminate in group presentations on Friday. The projects are as follows:

Sign-up sheets will be available on Monday, July 26. Participation is not mandatory, however we urge you to sign-up since this is a great opportunity to work closely with experts in the field, dealing with cutting-edge science using newly-released datasets. Financially-supported attendees are strongly urged to participate. Prizes will be given out in a number of categories!
