The NASA Exoplanet Science Institute (NExScI) will host the Sagan/Michelson Fellows Symposium on November 8-9, 2018 at Caltech. Everyone is welcome to attend and listen to current and past NASA Hubble Sagan Fellows and Sagan/Michelson graduate student and postdoctoral fellows present their current or past research results and highlight many of their cutting-edge efforts. The symposium will also feature a career panel. Dr. Linda Spilker (JPL), the Cassini Project Scientist, will give a keynote talk titled Surprises in the Saturn System: Cassini Mission Highlights.
Please note: This may be the final symposium solely for the NASA Sagan Program and NASA Michelson Program fellows and alumnae. Future symposia will convene all NASA Hubble Fellowship Program (Sagan, Hubble, and Einstein) fellows, excluding alumnae.
The last Sagan/Michelson Fellows Symposium was held in
November 2017.
The abstract submission deadline is Friday, Oct. 12.
There is no registration fee for the symposium, however we do ask that all participants register for planning purposes. Please go ahead and register even if you haven't decided on the title and/or abstract of your presentation. This will help us with planning and estimating the number of hotel rooms that we might need.
We have reserved a small room block at the government rate at the Pasadena Hilton for the nights of Nov. 7, 8, 9. Please use this on-line reservation link to make your reservation by the Oct. 23 deadline. The Hilton is a pleasant ~20 min walk from Caltech. You can also make advance arrangements to have their shuttle bring you to/from campus.
Lunch will be on your own. Thursday at 6 pm we will have a symposium dinner at Saladang Garden that will cost approximately $25-30 pp not including drinks. Please let us know as soon as possible if you will attend the dinner.
