Abstract:
Millimeter continuum observations allow us to probe the dust
component of circumstellar disks. At millimeter wavelengths the thermal
emission from dust grains is optically thin throughout most of the disk
allowing us to probe the mass of the disk and the dust properties and
distribution on the disk midplane, where planet formation is thought to
occurr. I will discuss the properties of circumstellar disks
across the stellar mass range as derived from millimeter
interferometric observations. I will also discuss how millimeter
observations also allow us to probe the evolution of circumstellar
disks properties as a function of the age of the system setting the
stage for the planets fromation process.
