Abstract:
It is usually accepted that the stellar magnetic field of young stars is strong enough to disrupt the inner part of their accretion disk, up to a distance of a few stellar radii above the photosphere (r<0.1AU). We will report observational evidence supporting such a magnetically-mediated star-disk interaction in accreting T Tauri stars. We will discuss the stability of the inner disk magnetospheric cavity, the structure of the inner disk edge, and the possible implications of magnetospheric accretion for planets migrating close to the central star (i.e. young 'hot Jupiters').
