KI Possible Mode Reconfigurations During
a Night
It is possible to use a maximum of two (2) different KI modes during a
night, subject to the allowed combinations
specified in the table below. The table also gives conservative
estimates for the reconfiguration times (which occurs
during your observing time). Please
note that all modes which you intend to use must be specified in your
proposal
to allow for adequate scheduling
and instrument preparation. Any requests made after the proposal
is accepted will
only be supported if the team is
able to change modes without adversely affecting other science users
and such requests
must be made at least three (3)
weeks before the allocated night.

Important Notes:
- SPR = Self-Phase Referencing.
- SP = Split Pupil (same as during Nulling observations).
- Modes in PURPLE are not fully commissioned (shared-risk).
- The range in reconfiguration times to/from L-band corresponds to having or not having to also switch infrasil/ZnSe crypt windows. (L-band operation requires ZnSe windows, but infrasil windows provide somewhat better NIR transmission).
- Reconfiguration between the L-10 and K-330 (SPR) modes require
significantly more preparation. Therefore, whether or not this can be
accomodated for a given night will depend on the final Keck schedules
for the semester (time between interferometer runs). The PI will be
informed whether or not his/her request can be accomodated shortly
after the final Keck schedules are published.
